Learn from the work. Improve the work.
Good intentions are not enough. We want to understand which organizational practices strengthen mission, coworker community, leadership, and measurable outcomes—and what it takes to sustain them.

Emmaus connects three kinds of knowledge: what people experience, what an organization actually does, and what changes over time. Our aim is to help leaders make better decisions while developing a responsible, cumulative body of learning across participating ministries.
1. Measure
Gather consistent baseline perspectives from leaders and other eligible participants, alongside relevant operational evidence.
2. Intervene
Choose a response to the identified problem, assign an owner, document how it was delivered, and agree on success measures.
3. Learn
Repeat measures, interpret results cautiously, and use verified findings to improve future recommendations.
Follow the change, not just the score
For participating organizations, the proposed measurement cycle follows both implementation activity and organizational outcomes.
What the library will record
Each future intervention entry is designed to be more than an idea. It should tell leaders when a practice may be appropriate, what it requires, and how its effects can be evaluated.
| Field | What we document |
|---|---|
| Challenge | The diagnosed gap and baseline evidence. |
| Intervention | Method, intended mechanism, target group, and prerequisites. |
| Implementation | Owner, dates, participation, cost, and fidelity. |
| Outcomes | Follow-up measures, observed change, and contextual factors. |
| Evidence level | Proposed practice, pilot-tested approach, or stronger supported finding. |
A rise in scores after an intervention does not, by itself, prove that the intervention caused the improvement. Emmaus will distinguish observations, associations, and stronger causal evidence.
